Kenarava Group represented Africa’s youth-led agribusiness enterprises at the Oxfam International “Re-thinking Africa Conference” in Nairobi, Kenya. Ronald Diang’a, our Chairman, formed a panel of speakers examining the role of African youth in ensuring the continent’s climate resilience and food security. In context, he challenged the event’s participants to end the “support the youth” narrative by considering Africa’s young people to be the competent sectoral actors they are.
The Re-Thinking Africa Conference brought together an exciting array of leading thinkers, economists, activists and artists – together with Oxfam’s own leaders – from across the continent. It further reflected upon and together deepened Oxfam’s understanding of Africa’s political and economic challenges and opportunities, and what they mean for ordinary Africans – most of all for our young people.
This understanding will, in turn, be vital for Oxfam to help shape their own vision in becoming a transformational partner on the continent for the next 10-15 years, informing their forthcoming Oxfam global strategy. The Re-Thinking Africa Conference will be a historic milestone in Oxfam’s 77-year journey, especially now as they are headquartered here in Nairobi.
