The National Youth in Agribusiness Forum 2018

Kenarava Group Ltd was a partner of the The National Youth in Agribusiness Forum 2018 which successfully convened over 300 youth led agri-entreprises and  stakeholders in agriculture. The PAINT-Y National Forum 2018 was held on 27th November 2018 at Safari Park Hotel. The discussions  were anchored on the Theme: “Investing in the Youth as the next frontier in agricultural transformation”

The Forum had various interesting sessions that were guided to discuss practical solutions to the challenges that Youth in agribusiness face. It Featured a panel of young people in agriculture from different companies, community based organisations and private sector, who shared their experiences in tackling various challenges like access to Finance, Skills and capacity development; Access to resources, markets, information and knowledge; leadership and policy influencing.

Kenarava Group Ltd Chairman, Mr. Ronald Diang’a shared the three key points in supporting Youth in agribusiness. First, he pointed out that organising youth in to cooperatives to harness the power of collective bargain is important in enabling them access finance, markets and different services. In addition, he said that not every youth can be involved in agriculture but it is key to identify those who have the skills, abilities and INTEREST. Further, he emphasised that the challenge most Youth led agri – entreprises face is NOT being investor ready and therefore it is important to build capacity around this area.

The forum had different exiting innovations, technology, services and products that were exhibited by various youth led agri – businesses, organizations, private companies and projects working in the Agricultural sector. PAINT – Y is looking to a platform that offers opportunities for all the stakeholders in the agricultural sector to CONNECT, INSPIRE, COLLABORATE.
